On the occasion of the WindEurope Annual Conference in Bilbao, the Atlantic Arc Commission met to agree on  political declaration on Offshore Renewable Energies

During the event organised by the Atlantic Arc Commission and the Basque Energy Agency at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, the Atlantic regions discussed their ambitions and plans to deploy Offshore Renewable Energies. They agree on a Political decalaration setting the vision of the AAC on future steps to take to support the sound development of offshore renewable enegies in the Atlantic area. The declaration, adressed to national gouvernement and EU institutions, was strongly shaped by the context of important volatility of energy prices due to the Russian attack on Ukraine, which was unanimously condamned by AAC political representatives. Regions were able to discuss with representatives of the sector of the wind energy, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank on means to make the Atlantic area a pillar on Europe's energy autonomy from Russia, as set up in the REPower EU Communication, while achieving the Green deal.

The event concluded with a visit of the AAC representatives to the port of Bilbao where they were able to learn more about Bimep, the Biscay Marine Energy Platform and Saitec, the offshore floating wind energy platform.
