From 15 April with a budget of 8.5 M€

  • Those targeted specifically at the residential sector, both private individuals and residential communities of renewable energy and facilities not exceeding 25 kW.
  • Renewable domestic thermal systems (geothermia, aerothermia, biomass and solar thermal) will also receive support in 2024 amounting to EUR 2,500,000.

The Official Gazette of the Basque Country publishes in today’s edition the new call of the Basque Energy Agency for the implementation of aid for the deployment of renewable energies in the Basque Country. Solar self-consumption and wind self-consumption will have a budget of EUR 8,500,000 for the start-up of new electricity production facilities of km 0, while renewable thermal energy will have EUR 2,500,000.

The Basque Energy Agency (EVE), as a public energy agency of the Basque Government, has among its main functions the increased efficiency of energy consumption in the Basque Country and, consequently, the promotion of a more competitive, sustainable and safe energy system. Renewables are the fundamental pillar for achieving this objective, together with energy efficiency, meaning a reduction in energy consumption in order to achieve the same products or services. Self-consumption has become one of the most representative and widespread models, with thousands of self-consumption facilities in the Basque Country (4,352) to supply the main electricity needs of housing.

The new EVD self-consumption aid for 2024 is intended to meet the needs of the residential sector and to contribute to the implementation of renewable solar self-consumption and wind self-consumption facilities, both for buildings connected to the electricity grid and for isolated buildings using storage systems or batteries. All installations must have a system for monitoring the energy produced, of which at least 80% must be consumed by the owners or persons connected to the installation. The installation of power exceeding 25 kW is permitted, without the facilities being supported by a power exceeding this limit.

To this end, the aid may be granted to individual natural persons, residential owner communities, renewable energy communities and civic energy communities composed exclusively of residential consumers who do not engage in any activity which, in return for goods and services, is carried out individually or collectively on the market.

The term of validity of this call shall be extended until 31 October 2024 or until budget exhaustion. Applications may relate to actions taken after 1 January 2024.

Aid for renewable heat
On the other hand, the production of heat of renewable domestic origin, both for heating and for heating of network water, will have a new specific aid programme of EUR 2,500,000 which may be requested from 15 April to 31 October 2024.

This aid will contribute to investments in renewable energy including solar thermal energy, biomass, geothermal surveys, hydrothermia, aerothermia (other than air-air) and the construction of new interchange efforts for the incorporation of new users into heat networks based on renewable sources.

This aid may cover up to 35% of the eligible costs of the new facilities.
