More and more homes and companies are opting for this technology.\r\n<\/p><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 m-auto\">\r\n<div class=\"module-title text-center\">\r\n<h2 class=\"sidelines\"><span>Geothermal energy: harnessing heat from the ground<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 align-self-center\">\r\n<h3>How does it work?<\/h3>\r\n<p>Geothermal energy takes advantage of the constant temperature below the earth\u2019s surface (from a depth of 10 metres) using a buried water circuit. The system captures the heat from the ground and transfers it to the building via a heat pump.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Primary benefits:<\/h3>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>Clean, renewable energy:<\/strong> reduces fossil-fuel dependence and carbon emissions.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>High efficiency:<\/strong> for every kW of electricity consumed, more than 4 kW of thermal energy is obtained, at a stable ground temperature. Furthermore, it requires less electricity and a smaller power connection.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>Temperature:<\/strong> the system obtains higher temperatures without requiring an electrical element.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>Financial savings:<\/strong> up to 70% in heating and 50% in cooling, as compared to conventional systems.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>Durable installations:<\/strong> service life in excess of 50 years with low maintenance.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\t<li>\u2022\t<strong>Health and Safety:<\/strong> less noise since there are no fans. The right choice will depend on the characteristics (i.e. energy demand) of the building, the land available and the budget.
