Transformative projects in energy
The Transformative Projects are strategic initiatives of the Industry Plan – Euskadi 2030 designed to accelerate structural changes in the Basque industry. They are characterized by their impact, their public-private collaborative approach and their technological orientation, and are designed to boost the country’s competitiveness, sustainability and energy autonomy.
Development of Renewable Energies
It promotes the creation of new wind and solar parks to reach 550 MW of renewable power by 2028. The locations are selected for their technical and environmental suitability, guaranteeing connection to substations and minimal territorial condition. The project activates the Basque industrial value chain in electrical and wind equipment, generating qualified employment and moving towards greater energy independence.
Planning of the Basque Electricity Networks
It increases the capacity of the network by 6,000 MW by 2030, ensuring that Euskadi has infrastructures prepared for an electrified and low-carbon economy. The initiative is based on planning aligned with the State and on the participation of the Basque equipment manufacturing industry, facilitating the integration of renewables and the growth of the productive fabric.
Grid4Industry
It develops advanced technology to modernize the electricity network: high-capacity transformers, intelligent substations and protection and digitization systems. The project strengthens the competitiveness of the Basque industry linked to electricity networks and accelerates the transition to more efficient and prepared infrastructures for greater industrial electricity consumption.
Valley of Decarbonization
It creates infrastructures to decarbonize industries that are difficult to electrify by means of renewable hydrogen and capture and valorisation of CO₂. It includes a pipeline network that will connect industrial poles with hydrogen plants and CO₂ reuse systems for renewable fuels. The project positions the Basque Country as a European reference in energy transition technologies and favours a more sustainable and competitive industrial model.
Hub of Renewable Fuels
It develops an industrial and technological ecosystem focused on hydrogen, synthetic fuels and biofuels. It includes test infrastructures, support for start-ups and projects associated with the EIC roadmap. Its objective is to provide the industry with advanced decarbonization solutions and attract talent and investment to a strategically expanding sector.
