Public administrations have a key role to play in the energy transition, both because of their wide scope for improvement in efficiency and savings and because of their ability to influence society as a whole. The modernisation of lighting, the sustainable mobility of fleets or the introduction of renewable energies, and especially self-consumption facilities and heat and cold networks, etc., are measures which reduce energy expenditure and strengthen the institutional commitment to sustainability.
The basque enegy agency, EVE, promotes and accompanies these advances so that each administration can achieve high levels of efficiency and example. Their leadership is essential: when a public institution acts, it inspires the public, guides the private sector and creates a multiplier effect. Efficient and sustainable management not only reduces emissions and costs, but also becomes a reference for the whole community.
